An electric blue background with iridescent pink and green dragonflies, make this Lancet armchair absolutely magical! The fabric is a mid-weight Asian inspired silk and rayon blend. Due to the very shiny surface of the background, I questioned this choice in terms of durability, in spite of it's obvious beauty. As I worked with it, I realized it was much tougher than it looked, and easily held up to the abuse my hands (rough from gardening without gloves) inflicted. Silk is THE strongest natural fiber. I tested the fabric by spilling water on it...no problem. Cantaloupe juice wiped away with a wet cloth and dried with no stain. I believe, with gentle care it will serve it's user well for many many years before needing re-upholstery. This little chair is a story book fantasy come to life!
