The Lancet

This chair gets it's name from the peaked architectural arch called a "lancet". The shape was inspired by a classic French flea market chair.  All of these children's chairs can be produced with a loose cushion or a "tight" upholstered seat. I also use this design in an armless "slipper chair" version.

The Cubana

The gently sloping rolled arms on this frame stop 4-5 inches shy of the front edge providing a feeling of ample seating. You can see this style on the "Shopping Page" with a variety of options like loose cushions, tightly upholstered seats, or tufting on the seat and inside back. It also looks great with several different styles of skirts. A matching ottoman is always an option.

This lovely shape is a replica of my first chair. It was given to me by a young Cuban woman who lived in my Hyde Park neighborhood in Austin. One leg was off and it was the first piece of furniture I reupholstered at the Continuing Education classes at Austin Community College (a class I would later teach between 1982-1992). The original still graces my bedroom sitting area. It lends itself to many different classic upholstery styles for boys and girls chairs.

The Saddle Arm

This classic English arm style is my favorite. It can be seen on the finest furniture and is an enduring style which fits perfectly in an eclectic setting. Depending on the fabric choice and finishing details, the saddle arm can produce a casual or formal child chair.

The Classic Club

Rolled arms and a rolled back make this timeless shape appropriate for a variety of design styles. It's a traditional club chair which can take on a formal or casual look for boys or girls, depending on the fabric choice. For a partial list of possible variations on style, see the FAQ's page under "What other elements of the chair can be customized?"

The Mod I

A modern shape perfect for libraries, museums or home use. It has a sophisticated modernist look while retaining an adorable rounded cuteness factor. At 11" high, the seat is perfect for a wide range of kiddos.

The Mod II

Modern styling that comfortably curves with little bodies.  The smallest of the Little Big Chairs with a seat height of approximately 10.5 inches, this unique shape is pleasing to the mind and body.
